Communal TV Services

Communal TV Systems are a highly desired solution within MDUs (Multi Dwelling Units).

Whilst most Communal TV Systems are deployed over coaxial, the infrastructure of choice is fibre.

Use of coaxial in this environment places the MDU at a disadvantage, given signal strength can be affected by ‘cable loss’. The longer the coaxial feed, the more potential for disruption. Modern IRS (integrated reception systems) solutions run over fibre, removing such limitations, meaning a strong signal can be maintained no matter the distance between a receiving antenna and outlet location.

TVNET’s experienced engineering team will attend site, conduct an in-depth analysis of the MDU, including it’s short, medium and long-term occupation plan. On gathering all key information, TVNET will design and recommend the most appropriate TV solution to meet the needs of each client.

Fibre infrastructure can also offer residents flexibility of choice, in relation to their TV provider. Traditional coaxial solutions often favour one provider, limiting or restricting a resident’s options.

Fibre also offers further benefits, over coaxial.

  1. One 12-core fibre cable can provide the equivalent of 49 coax cables.
  2. The cable diameter is much smaller, offering more versatile cable routing, potentially reducing both the time and cost of an installation.
  3. High quality transmission over much great distances. This increases the number of sites, rooms or dwellings that can be connected via one TV Aerial and Satellite dish.
  4. Fibre provides the infrastructure to enhance other on-site communication tools, for example data and voice.
  5. Fibre offers energy efficiencies giving the components it passes through can be passive, rather than active.

"The guys that came to install the cables and data cabinet were absolutely brilliant. Little Moreton Hall is not an easy building, and they were very understanding of the constraints of what we can and can't do. They went out of their way to find service routes that were already in existence to avoid unnecessary drilling (even finding out the age of different sections of timber from our handyman to make sure they were not disturbing anything original), and worked with my team to ensure they weren't impacting on our operation as the site was open to the public and they had to work in kitchen areas and front of house spaces. They also came in at 6am one morning to ensure they would be done working in an area in time for opening so as not to cause any disruption. On top of this, they were polite. pleasant and friendly. I would welcome them back anytime."
